fluid
2021
direct digital print on 3mm Alu-Dibond, aluminium composite sheet
120 x 80 cm
A modulated and fractured surface is echoed in hari_klia’s autostereogram print, fluid (2021). The 3D magic eye picture represents an act of transformation of both body and imposed identities (gender, regional, and otherwise). This process of reimagining oneself is in turns in response to identitarian harassment, as well as a process of personal evolution and regeneration. fluid shows a 3D image of a human body shedding its skin, re-emerging anew: it is made visible through a repetitive 2D pattern produced with a composite of photographs of a scorpion’s skin glowing under UV-light, and the artists own body. As a scorpion’s skin is shed several times throughout its lifetime, so is the human body hurting, transforming, and regenerating; each time more powerful and more true to itself.
